Requirements to Work at Harding
- You must be at least 21 years old.
- 2 years of sales and/or customer service experience.
- Basic computer skills.
- Very good level of English. German is a highly sought-after plus.
- CV in Word or PDF format in English.
- Full name of the candidate.
- Job titles and responsibilities.
- History of the most recent jobs/explanation for any gaps in employment history.
- Employment dates in chronological order (month and year).
Contractual Conditions for Harding
- Typically a 6-month contract (5 months for Australia).
- Candidate contribution for contract flights (when it exceeds £350 for South American candidates), but this will be deducted from their first salary onboard, so no upfront payment is required.
- Visa costs are covered by Harding (reimbursed once onboard).
- STCW costs are covered by Harding if required by the cruise line (again, reimbursed once onboard).
- Medical examination costs are covered by the candidate (if they exceed U$S156, Harding will reimburse the additional amount in their first onboard payment).
- Reasonable travel expenses between the arrival airport and the port (bus or train, no taxi except for short distances). These expenses will be reimbursed onboard.
- Travel expenses incurred traveling to or from the airport of origin are not covered by the company.

- Interview: If you meet the profile, you will be contacted for an interview in English. You may be assessed for different vacancies. Some positions require a second interview with the cruise company.
- Pre-boarding: Once approved, you will receive a job offer and employment conditions. You will need to complete documentation and certifications such as visas and medical exams.
- Boarding: You will be assigned a boarding date and receive details about flights, emergency contacts, and everything necessary for your trip.

Known as a seaman’s visa, some nationalities require this visa to work onboard a ship and travel to certain countries. It generally has a duration of two to five years. You will need to schedule an appointment at your nearest U.S. embassy, and your recruitment agency will provide all the necessary documentation.
How do I obtain a medical certificate?
This detailed medical examination is the employee’s responsibility and must be conducted at one of the medical facilities recommended by the cruise lines. Once completed and approved by our medical department, you will be authorized to travel and work onboard.
How do I get to the ship and back home?
Harding covers travel costs, which will then be reimbursed onboard, as long as it is a “reasonable” mode of transportation according to the details described above.
How long will I be onboard?
The duration of contracts varies by position, typically between four and ten months. After each contract, approximately 60 days of vacation are granted before the next one. Daily work hours depend on the position, but working seven days a week for between 10 and 13 hours a day is expected.
Is there a curfew?
There is no established curfew. However, crew members who are out late are expected to be respectful of other nearby crew members and guests.
What happens if I get sick while working onboard?
Onboard, all crew members are medically covered and can visit the Medical Clinic for health issues.
